Curriculum vitae

Soprano Jana Borková studied at first at Charles University English and Music Education, afterwards she continued her University studies of opera singing at University of Musical Arts in Bratislava under leading of profesor M. Blahušiaková. Her concert experience concludes the performances in Czech, Slovakia the same as abroad (International Festival Musica Sacra in Nitra Slovakia , cooperation with chamber orchestra of E.Šaray and chamber orchestra of Mariánské Lázně). Her interest focuses on romantic and contemporary song genre, the same as opera, operetta and musical repertory that often performes at various concert recitals (French-spanish recital in Mirbach palace –Bratislava 2011, solo recital for Slovakian Academy of Science – 2009, 2010).As a great success was her debut at Macerata Sferisterio festival (Italy) where she became a stable quest of the festival.

During her University studies she studied and performed on stage soprano roles : Donna Elvira (W. A. Mozart : Don Giovanni), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan Tutte), Pascalina (Plays about Maria – B.Martinů) and Nedda (R. Leoncavallo – Pagliacci). During the studies she was casted in Bratislava National theatre for the role of Morena (E.Suchoň – opera Svatopluk). And afterwards other opportinities of roles came such as : Alice Ford (2011, Ostrava, National Moravian – Silezian Theatre – opera Falstaff of G.Verdi). Nowadays she is a stable host in Opava and Ostrava theatres in the role of Anna Elisa (2011, Opava Silesian Theate - operetta Paganini of.F.Lehár),Helena (2011, Ostrava, Musical-Operetta Theatre – operetta Polish Blood of Oscar Nedbal), Bessie (2012, operetta „Naughty girl“ of J.Beneš – Opava Silesian Theatre). Her favorite role is Sylva Varescu performed (operetta Csardas Princess : I.Kalman, under directing of Lumír Olšovský) in Silesian National Theatre. She was a member in opera tour in Germany and in Switzerland where was casted as a first lady in Mozart´s Magic Flute. As the most signifiant moment of her career was her debut at Festival Follée Journeé de Kanazawa in Japan where debuted as Violetta Valery in Verdi´s La Traviata and went through several concerts of opera arias. At the same year was casted as Carlotta Giudicelli in musical The Phantom of the Opera in GoJa Music Hall in Prague. Her other opera repertory also includes other roles as : Musetta (Boheme -Puccini), Santuzza (Cavaleria Rusticana – Macagni) and Nedda (Pagliacci – Leoncavallo)

From 2013 she became a professor of musical singing and interpretation at International Conservatory of Prague. Her other interest is also organising and managing various concert activities containing dramaturgy, translation or moderating of various artistic occasions.

As a student she became the winter of vocal competitions of Czech Music Pedagogical Universities (first prizes in 2003, 2004) She also took part in the competitions of Czech Music Schools, given 2nd prize and special prize for interpretation of musical piece from musical Phantom of Opera (2003). In 2010 she became a finalist of international competition of M.Schneider –Trnavský in Slovakia and the same year she got 2nd prize inf International competition of Imrich Godin in Vrable - Slovakia.
